Theft Ring Where Suspects Tear Out Store ATMs. How to protect your ATM machine from being stolen.
We are seeing more and more ATM machines being stolen from retail locations. What can a store owner do to better protect their ATM machines when closed?
1) Move your ATM machine away from the door. Most robbers just want to get in and out with your machine. If it is away from the front door it will reduce the chance of being stolen.
2) Cover your ATM at night. A dark store with bright lights on the machine just invites thieves. Put a blanket over the machine when you leave at night. Out of sight... out of mind.
3) Make sure the machine is properly bolted to the ground. We have seen many machines stolen because it was not properly secured to the ground or pole. Make sure a professional installs your ATM.
Three easy steps to better protect a key asset in your store from loss.
