Monroe police continue to investigate an armed robbery and homicide of a merchant on Thursday afternoon (May 1st).
Harry Collins, who owned Collins Coins at 602 Hudson Lane, died from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. According to a competitor who spoke withThe News-Star, Collins was an expert coin dealer and appraiser.
Police say Collins, a coin dealer in his 60s, was shot during an armed robbery that happened around 4:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon. He was shot once to the upper torso. Monroe Police have limited suspect information, which consist of three black male subjects who had entered the store.
Anyone with information about Thursday’s incident is urged to contact the Monroe Police Department at (318) 329-2600 or Crime Stoppers at (318) 388-2274. In major cases, Crime Stoppers can pay up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest or grand jury indictment.
